Whether you’re an undergraduate who is wondering what to do with your degree or a career-changer who is considering transferring your talents to the classroom, Georgetown College’s online, affordable courses make it easy to earn your teaching certificate. Our Master of Arts in Education programs with initial certification provide two routes to teaching: traditional and alternative. Choose from a wide range of certification areas, building on your personal interests and educational background, with our traditional certification program. If you are interested in teaching in a high-need area, consider our alternative certification program. Due to a lack of certified teachers in areas such as Science and Math, some schools are willing to hire candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in the content area and are enrolled in an alternative certification program under a temporary provisional certificate. This is the quickest way to get into the classroom and start teaching!
Whichever route you choose, our Master of Arts in Education provides initial teaching certification options in the following areas:
|High School||Middle School||Pre-K – 12th grade|
The Master of Arts in Education with Initial Certification Programs’ Highlights include:

- Online coursework allows flexible, year-round program entry
- Program can be completed in 1½-2½ years
If you have a bachelor’s degree in a certifiable content major (areas in table above or closely related areas), you can begin your path to becoming a classroom teacher today.
