Online MA in Education with Learning and Behavior Disorders (LBD) Certification

Kentucky needs P-12 teachers who are committed to providing high-quality learning experiences and services to students with mild to moderate learning and behavior disorders (LBD). Georgetown College offers affordable, online master’s programs that will help you fill the ongoing need for teachers in this area.

  • No prior LBD experience is required for program admission
  • Coursework is fully online with flexible entry
  • Courses are taught by caring professors with extensive experience working with LBD students
  • Local field experiences provide students with on- and off-site support and feedback
  • Certification available both for non-certified teachers and teachers certified in other areas:
    • Initial LBD certification is tailored to non-certified teachers
      • Traditional Route: Candidates without a teaching certificate who are not currently employed as LBD teachers can seek initial certification in preparation for future teaching jobs.
      • Alternative Route: Since LBD is a high-need field, some schools provisionally hire candidates who do not have a teaching certificate, but are enrolled in an alternative certification program. Alternative certification is designed for those candidates who have the opportunity to teach in an LBD classroom under a temporary provisional certificate.
    • Advanced LBD certification is designed for teachers certified in areas other than LBD
