Inmersión en Español at Georgetown College (IEGC) is a post-secondary Spanish Immersion program that offers students the opportunity to develop and strengthen their language skills by taking general studies courses in a range of subjects offered entirely in Spanish.
Studies demonstrate that immersion is the most effective method for learning a foreign language. Luckily, Georgetown students don’t have to travel far for this opportunity. IEGC participants can immerse themselves in the language on our campus by taking general studies courses like Philosophy, Sociology, and Literature, taught entirely in Spanish. IEGC also gives students the opportunity to use Spanish outside the classroom through community events, social activities, study abroad programs, and professional internships.
Whatever a student’s background, IEGC offers a unique opportunity to not only improve fluency, but also to develop the ability to think critically, defend ideas, research information, and interact with others in academic and professional settings…all en español.
