Orientation

International Student Orientation

International students typically arrive one week before classes begin. During orientation we will give you a brief introduction to U.S. university culture and your F-1 visa. We will also take you shopping, help you set up a bank account and assist you in getting a cell phone.

While the goal of international student orientation is to provide you with the information necessary for success at Georgetown College, we also have fun! You’ll meet other international students and many American students. Not only will you have the opportunity to learn about how to get involved at Georgetown, you’ll become familiar with campus and the surrounding area.

International student orientation is mandatory for all new international students.

Freshman (First Year Student) Orientation

Just before the start of classes each Fall semester (mid August) Freshman Orientation is held. This is mandatory for all first year students (both international and domestic). During this time you will meet your academic advisor, receive important information about Georgetown and meet many, many new friends.

Don’t worry, International Student Orientation is always held before Freshman Orientation; you’ll have a few days to get used to campus with the help of International Programs staff before this orientation begins.

You’ll receive the schedule for Freshman Orientation during International Orientation.
