Arrival Process

Airport Information

The closest airport to Georgetown is Lexington (LEX); this is the preferred airport for new international arrivals. Be sure to leave at least three (3) hours between your U.S. port-of-entry flight and any domestic flights; this will give you adequate time to go through immigration and customs. Example – if you fly into the U.S. in Atlanta (ATL), be sure to allow yourself three (3) hours between your scheduled arrival time and your next flight.

Entering the United States of America

Carry your I-20 with you at all times until you arrive at Georgetown College. It is recommended that you keep it with your passport as you will need both when entering the U.S.A. Upon entry, you will need to go through immigration, baggage claim and customs. Immigration and customs can be a long process; be sure to allow three (3) hours in your schedule to pass through both. A non U.S. citizen typically enters the U.S.A. without any issue so long as they have a valid visa and the appropriate forms.
