
IEGC students learned about the tradition of preparing and sipping mate (pronounced: mah-teh), an herbal infusion enjoyed since Pre-Colombian times in Argentina, Uruguay, and parts of Chile and Brazil.
Boyd Co visit to Georgetown College
A group of 17 Boyd Co. students and their teacher, Shelia Duncan, toured campus, learned about IEGC, and participated in a Day of the Dead celebration at the McCandless House. On these two days at the beginning of November, families throughout Latin America commemorate the lives of the deceased by creating colorful altars in their honor.
Every year, a group of Chilean high school students and their teacher visit Georgetown College, to learn about our school and region. This year the students payed visits to LCA and Woodford Co. High School, took IEP classes on campus, and even celebrated Chilean Independence Day on campus. By the end of their two weeks, everyone on campus knew the meaning of “¡Viva Chile!”
