You’re the One for Us!

If you’re familiar with Julieta Venegas’ hit “Eres para mí,” chances are good that mere mention of it finds you suddenly humming the tune, head bopping gently, in time and upbeat. Supporters of the Georgetown College Spanish Immersion program liked that the song was catchy and well-known among Spanish-speakers. It was the song’s three-word title and chorus, however, that inspired the creation of Georgetown College’s first Spanish-only lip dub, filmed in one continuous shot, on Memorial Dr., the gateway to campus.

For those of you unfamiliar with this phenomenon, driven in large part by the online video platform YouTube, lip dub videos are similar to lip synching, in which the performer mouths the words of a song without actually singing. Georgetown College admissions counselors, directors of International Programs and Global Scholars, and even the College’s fitness coordinator gave voice to Venegas’ hit—or at least pretended to—to help draw attention to the new Spanish Immersion program.
