Because we believe that the family and friends who support our students are truly part of the Georgetown family, we are excited to introduce a new opportunity for parents to leave a unique mark on the GC campus through The Parents Campaign.
During the 2010-’11 academic year, the GC faculty and staff were united through what we called the Family Campaign, an on-campus effort to demonstrate to students, alumni, and friends that employees so believe in the mission of Georgetown College that a financial contribution from them could have great impact. It was an overwhelming success with 80% of the employees participating – up from just 37% the previous year! This new Parent’s Campaign further extends our Family Campaign and we invite you to be a part of it!
Gifts to the Parents Campaign make a tangible difference in the quality of students’ lives on campus. The funds raised will support the greatest needs on campus including:
Dr. Roger Ward, a professor in the Philosophy Department and co-director of the Christian Leaders Scholars program, shared with us some thoughts about being a faculty member and father of a current GC student:
As a long time faculty member of Georgetown, I believe in the educational opportunities we provide for students. When my daughter chose to attend Georgetown four years ago I have to admit I was curious how she–and we–would like it. We love it! Rachel has traveled, been challenged in classes, encouraged to apply for a Fulbright, and basically just had a great time. We are so happy with the friends she has made and the way she has grown academically and spiritually.
