• Hi, I'm Sam

Sam ChinWhen I came to Georgetown, my family and I worried about how we were going to afford tuition. I planned to take out loans and work as many hours as I could around my class schedule. But after talking with my admissions counselor and the financial aid office, my life changed -- I received a scholarship! At the time, I had little idea as to how the money for my scholarship was generated, but I was relieved, grateful, and excited that I could worry a little less about financing my education.

In the second semester of my sophomore year, I had to return home to focus on personal needs with my family. I anticipated a struggle in returning to school the next year because of increased financial need. I can hardly describe my relief as I returned to find that my amount of financial aid had gone up. At this point, I recognized how valuable the generosity of those willing to donate to the College really is. Those donations helped me to achieve my goals as a student, and I could not be more appreciative.

Thanks to scholarships, my time at Georgetown has been phenomenal! The financial support allowed me to focus on my classes instead of worrying about how I would pay for tuition. I’ve gotten to explore so much and really discover my passion for a future career. As a Philosophy major, I had personal interaction with my professors and was able to focus on my studies. After I graduate, I plan to serve as a missionary in Eastern Kentucky or attend seminary.

While I’ve been fortunate, I’ve seen the need for financial support for other students rise during this recessive economy. This year, too many students may forfeit college and never return because of financial constraints. We may never know what those students could have achieved with a little support.

  • Hi, I'm Morgan

Morgan FaulknerMy time spent here over the past four years has been remarkable. I have met people so different from myself, been involved in many activities on and off campus, and had experiences that helped me grow as a person.

I am so grateful for the financial assistance I received through scholarships, which allowed me to attend Georgetown College. Thanks to those scholarships, I have been able to explore my interests and have more options for my future. Georgetown has prepared me for many things, and now I feel ready to enter into a calling of ministry.

After I graduate from Georgetown in the spring, I plan to attend seminary and eventually work in women’s ministry. I am so thankful for the solid foundation and great education that I have received here at Georgetown.

  • Hi, I'm Bianca

Bianca RugimbanaAlthough I have only been attending Georgetown for the past two years, my experience here has been one of growth, excellence and wonderful experiences as my final semester comes to an end. While I’m originally from Australia, Georgetown College has allowed me to pursue so many dreams and achieve my goals both academically and financially through the encouragement and assistance of faculty, fellow students and people within the Georgetown community. Financial aid assistance through scholarships and grants has created endless possibilities for me as a student to excel and continue on the right path throughout my college years.

Georgetown College has always strived to help people and assist them as best it can and this is what has allowed me to be the student and person I am today. After graduating in December, I plan to attend either the University of Kentucky graduate school or UCLA law school. The academics and care at Georgetown College have prepared me both mentally and academically for my future endeavors and for this I am so grateful.
