The Tigers (10-0) completed their undefeated season on Saturday while visiting University of Virginia at Wise’s (3-8) cavaliers. The Tigers outscored UVa-Wise 21-7 in the final thirty minutes en route to a 49-27 victory. This is their second straight perfect regular season. With this win, the Tigers are the complete Mid South Conference East champs and have retained the No. 1 ranking that they captured last week.
Neal Pawsat had another great game, completing sixteen of twenty-nine passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Gohman and Branden Burdette had ninety and sixty-eight yards. Both of Burdette’s passes resulted in a touchdown. Pawsat ended up throwing the ball to eight different receivers over the course of the game. Over all of the season so far, Pawsat has thrown for 2,624 yards and 23 touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers had 275 net yards. Logan Osborne led the ground attack with 75 yards from nine runs while Melvin Posey picked up 65 yards from rushing five times. The defense once again anchored Georgetown, limiting the Cavaliers to 54 net rushing yards and seven points within the last 30 minutes as Georgetown built their lead.
With the regular season behind them, the Tigers look to make their perfect regular season reflect perfection in the playoffs as they host Bethel University for the first round of the playoffs Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold outside of the Caf and at the game this week. General admission is $10 but tickets will be $5 outside of the Caf with a G-Card.
