The Georgetown College volleyball team continues their winning ways, and has won an impressive 20 straight matches. Ladies of the squad seem to be unstoppable, as they ascend the rankings. Our Tigers are now ranked No. 13 in the NAIA after wins against Indiana University Southeast and Union College.
Georgetown isn’t showing signs of slowing down as they put down Indiana Southeast in three sets (25-22, 25-11, 25-19). They were also able to send the Bulldogs home with their tails between their legs, with relative ease (25-16, 25-22, 25-12). The wins this weekend make the longest winning streak for Coach Nick Griffin (20 straight).
GC volleyball has been a dominant force both in the conference and overall competition; they put up an incredible record (21-2, 9-0 in the MidSouth Conference).
The wins by the Tigers were definitely a team effort. Several different players had remarkable stats to prove it. For the matches of the day, Rachel Eubanks recorded 25 kills, 16 were attributed to Caraline Maher, Rebekah Moore claimed 33 digs in two matches, Lindsey Martindale had 15 assists against IUSE and Stephanie Gurren had 16 against Union.
Coach Griffin was understandably quite pleased with his team’s performance, and said he liked how they had to play a lot in one day. “It’s good to play in tri-matches where you have to play more than one match a day, but aren’t playing the whole weekend,” the GC coach said.”When it comes to tournament time, we are going to have to be ready for long days full of matches” (georgetowncollegeathletics.com).
