The Georgetown women’s volleyball team has been on fire lately with a 10-game winning streak. Our Tigers were able to best the team who was the last team to be victorious over Georgetown. The ladies of our squad were able to defeat Cornerstone University in five sets with the scores of 25-13, 26-24, 15-25, 22-25 and 18-16.
Coach Griffin and his team were definitely happy to have another shot at Cornerstone, and took what they learned from their previous matchup to come out with a W. Not only are they ranked No. 25 with an 11-2 record, they were successful in giving coach Nick Griffin his 100th win.
Our women’s volleyball team has been so dominant in the past 10 games that they’ve only lost a total of three sets. Georgetown has proven they have an effective combination of youth (six freshman on the roster) and experience. Corri Muha, GC freshman player, was unable to play in the first meeting between Georgetown and Cornerstone, but has recently been an influential part of the Tigers’ success.
After losing to the Cornerstone Golden Eagles 10 games prior, the Tigers were anxious to get even. Coach Griffin felt like his team was more with it in this game than the first meeting between the two teams. “We wanted to see what it was like to play Cornerstone again,” the GC coach said. “We felt we were really in that match the first time and wanted a chance to be full strength this time.”
