Awards:

“Peoples’ Choice” Awards of $100 each will be given to the following categories and based on a ballot box and 1 vote per attendee at the exhibition’s opening reception on Friday, November 7th, 6-8pm:
-2D
-3D (including installation/digital)
-Overall

The Georgetown College Art Department faculty will also choose one student who will be offered an exhibit the following fall in one of the Georgetown College’s gallery spaces.

Guidelines:

Each participating institution will develop its own process for selection of work with a maximum submission of 2 works for display. Thus, if 1 student is nominated, s/he may submit up to 2 pieces; if 2 students are nominated, each student submits 1 work.  Works may be 2D or 3D, ready-to-hang or to be displayed on pedestals.  (If the work is digital or needs technical equipment for exhibition, Georgetown College Art Galleries may be able to accommodate equipment requests confirmed in advance of the submission.)

Works must be suitable for indoor installation:  1) able to be secured to drywall/plywood with nails, screws, hooks, clips or similar devices; OR 2) able to be exhibited on a pedestal or in a display case; 3) be able to withstand a high traffic environment; 4) require little to no maintenance during the entirety of the exhibition; and 5) must take the audience’s safety into consideration.  Works not meeting these criteria will not be included in the exhibition.

Georgetown College will provide insurance coverage upon receipt of the work, during the exhibition and throughout the days work remains in its possession (from approximately November 3rd, 2012 through December 23rd, 2013).  Georgetown College reserves the right to photograph and videotape any submitted work/lecture for documentary, educational and publicity purposes.

All entries must be completed prior to submission.  No incomplete works will be considered.

Each artist or institution is responsible for every aspect of shipping or delivery and return shipping or retrieval of selected works.  Georgetown College will supervise and conduct the installation of all works. All works must be shipped or dropped off on Georgetown College’s campus between November 3rd – November 5th, from 8-5pm or otherwise discussed with the Gallery Director and agreed upon.  Works must be removed, M-F, 8-5pm during the dates of December 19th – 23rd, 2013.  If return shipping is provided, works will be mailed back to artists in the same packing materials as they were received by or before January 11.

Artists may sell the work during the project period.  However, the work must remain on site for the duration of the exhibition.  Georgetown College will retain a 30% commission on the sales price, and purchases will be charged 6% Kentucky Sales Tax.

An exhibition poster, with an image of each submitted work, will be produced and made available to all artists and participating institutions.

The opening reception for the exhibition will be held on November 7th, 2014 from 6-8 p.m.  Artists and faculty wishing to attend are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

* This exhibition is one in the series of alternating “State of” formats. Future shows are intended to feature work by Kentucky art faculty members working and teaching in different mediums (Fall 2011 – State of Drawing; Fall 2013 – State of Sculpture).
