This geometric square work forms an optical illusion. Slight gradations in color create a transition from dark purple on the outside to bright red in the vertical center. The piece is fragmented by small squares and the small light blue lines connecting them, forming a grid. Though each square is a solid color, the artist’s expert use of color creates the illusion that the color is changing as the eye moves horizontally across the piece. A light blue border frames and unifies the work.
