This Chinese circular box was created during the reign of the Song Dynasty between the tenth and thirteenth century CE. During this time, there was a renewed interest in Confucianism, the ideal of the universal man was a key concept of society, and the arts flourished due to many generous patrons. This particular box is made of porcelain and is decorated with flower and foliage designs in a raised relief.
