Jo Shoop Lecture Series - Katerina Stoykova

Katerina Stoykova immigrated to the USA from Bourgas, Bulgaria, in 1995. She composes poetry and prose in English and Bulgarian and she self-translates across both languages. She earned her MFA in creative writing from Spalding in 2009, and she is the author of multiple bilingual books. She hosts the Accents radio program for literature, art, and culture on WRFL 88.1 FM, Lexington. She launched Accents Publishing, an independent press, in 2010. Her most recent book, _Second Skin_, is about growing up in domestic violence. The book (originally in Bulgarian) won a 2018 Creative Europe grant by the European Commission to translate into English.
