Ms. Hix came to the Georgetown College campus and spoke about her job as legal associate at The Jockey Club, as well as on  The Jockey Club’s programs, including the checkoff program and a new program: Thoroughbred Connect. Ms. Hix delved into what type of legal work she does with The Jockey Club, as well as her role in implementing the new programs being put in place to encourage second careers for Thoroughbreds when they are done racing.

The Jockey Club is the breed registry for Thoroughbred horses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The organization is dedicated to the improvement of Thoroughbred breeding and racing, and it fulfills that mandate by serving many segments of the industry through its subsidiary companies and by providing support to a wide range of industry initiatives. The Jockey Club maintains offices in Lexington, Kentucky, and New York City.
