Awards and Information:

Dr. May was a member of the Georgetown College faculty for thirty-five years. He received the Cawthorne “Excellence in Teaching” Award in 1991. Since retiring from full-time teaching in 2004, he has held appointments at Emory University and the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). Editor of Queen Elizabeth I: Selected Works (Folger Shakespeare Library, 2005) and author of The Elizabethan Courtier Poets: Their Poems and Their Contexts (1999) as well as numerous other books, essays, and articles on English Renaissance literature, Dr. May is currently the Principal Investigator on the project, “Early Modern Manuscript Poetry: Recovering our Scribal Heritage” (based at U. Sheffield).
