Awards and Information:

Dr. Allen joined the faculty in 1984. She chaired the English Department for eight years. The first faculty member to win all three of the College’s teaching awards, she is the recipient of the 1997 Rollie Graves “Technology Excellence” Award, the 1998 John Walker Manning “Distinguished Mentor and Teacher” Award, and the 2002 Cawthorne “Excellence in Teaching” Award. Since 2004, Dr. Allen has acted as Provost/Dean of the College, and is the first woman in Georgetown’s history to hold the position of chief academic officer.
