Dr. Ralph Curry, the biographer of Canadian humorist, Stephen Leacock, was a noted researcher and author. A Fulbright scholar, he was also a contributing member of the Kentucky-Tennessee American Studies Association. He directed the American Studies program and played a critical role both in founding the College’s Faculty Committee and in designing the processes that protect faculty’s rights. “The Curry Award for Faculty Excellence” (established in 2005) is named in honor of Dr. Curry and his wife, Dr. Gwen Curry, both Chairs in the English Department and long-time faculty at Georgetown College: the award recognizes faculty who excel, as the Currys did, in service, scholarship, and dedication to students. Dr. Ralph Curry died in 1997.
