Praxis Testing
Preparing for Praxis
Two Praxis tests are required for LBD certification in Kentucky:
- 0353: Education of Exception Students: Core Content Knowledge; KY Pass Score is 157
- 0542: Education of Exceptional Students: Teaching Mild to Moderate Disabilities; KY Pass Score is 172
We expect that our students will have successfully completed at least ECE 500, ECE 501, ECE 502, ECE 503 (12 hours of ECE courses) before registering for a Praxis test. In addition, we strongly recommend ECE 575A and ECE 504 as well (18 hours of ECE courses).
The first step in preparing for one of the Praxis LBD tests is to review the Test-at-a-Glance information linked above, which provides a description and an outline for what is covered on each test.
The second step is to complete a personal self-study of your familiarity with the contents of these tests. We have prepared a self-study for each test where you can review and take notes about your own strengths and areas for particular study.
As you begin your study, attend an LBD Program Praxis preparation session well before your testing date. Preparation sessions are offered in online webinar and face-to-face format. Registration for these study sessions are through the LBD Office. Review the materials provided when you register for the study session.
Registering for the Praxis Test
- Go to the ETS site: www.ets.org.
- Click PRAXIS and then “register for a test”. You will be registering for the PRAXIS II tests for the teaching profession, not Praxis I (Praxis II is paper-based only);
- Georgetown College Recipient Code is RA1249. You MUST mark this to be sure we receive a score report!
- Dates for 2010-2011 are below. The 2011-2012 dates are not posted until mid-July, but are expected to follow this same pattern. WE EXPECT EPSB to adopt a new test in August which will replace the two current tests by Fall 2012.
