Educator Standards
There are three set of standards that the Georgetown LBD Program prepares teachers to meet.
- The Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board has set New Teacher Standards that all new educators in Kentucky must meet for certification.
- Georgetown College has set standards across all preparation programs which are based on our Conceptual Framework of values and beliefs about children, teaching and learning. The Georgetown standards include but go beyond the state New Teacher Standards.
- All LBD teachers in Kentucky must meet the professional standards set by the Council for Exceptional Children for teaching students in “individualized general curriculum” programs. The CEC Standards include both knowledge and skills for working with students with mild to moderate disabilities and their families.
