Endorsements are programs of study that can be added to a student’s specific professional interests to increase their marketability. All of the endorsements listed below may be embedded as part of the Teacher Leader Master of Arts or the Rank I School Improvement degrees. All of these programs may be completed on their own, with the exception of the Literacy Specialist endorsement.
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 required (or 3.0 for the last 30 hours)

English as a Second Language Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to serve as advocates for ESL students and their families, both in the classroom and as school facilitators, collaborating with other teachers to help non-English-speaking students succeed academically and culturally.
Environmental Education Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to integrate environmental literacy across the curriculum through interdisciplinary, project-based courses.
Gifted and Talented Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to effectively instruct P-12 students who have shown significant academic promise. The coursework is aligned with the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) standards.
Instructional Technology Endorsement
This endorsement, dedicated to using classroom technology to enhance learning, prepares educators to serve as classroom teachers, school technology resource teachers, or computer lab application teachers, as well as to teach certain computer science courses.
Literacy Specialist Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to serve as literacy coaches, reading specialists, or reading supervisors in grades P-12. This endorsement may be earned only as a component of the Teacher Leader Master of Arts or Rank I School Improvement programs.
Reading P-12 Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to implement effective reading and writing practices in their classrooms and to provide leadership within their instructional teams.
Teacher Leader Endorsement
This endorsement prepares educators to become leaders in their schools and districts by helping them develop skills in key areas, including: communication, research, data analysis, curriculum development, cultural awareness, and technology.
