Gifted and Talented Endorsement

The Gifted and Talented Endorsement is designed to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills to work with gifted and talented students in P-12 classrooms, as well as to provide professional leadership in schools and school systems in effective and differentiated instruction for gifted and talented learners. Two options are available for candidates seeking endorsement in Gifted and Talented:

  • Candidates who already hold teaching certification in another field may complete the endorsement program only and receive the Gifted and Talented Endorsement.
  • Candidates may also pursue the endorsement as part of a Georgetown College Teacher Leader Master of Arts in Education or Master of Arts in Education, Rank I, School Improvement degree.

The Gifted and Talented Endorsement consists of a 12-hour core which includes coursework and field experiences designed to prepare candidates to meet the unique needs of gifted children.

Candidates must also pass a PRAXIS exam in order to be recommended for this endorsement.
