Field experiences are a part of the education program.

All undergraduate candidates are required to complete 200 hours of early field work prior to your student teaching semester. These placements have specific requirements, and you will be working closely with your professors and advisors to make sure you are completing the required field work.

All undergraduate candidates will complete hours both in a classroom and in other school settings, depending on the requirements of the education program.

All undergraduate candidates are required to document field experiences.

  • Check with your advisor for details about the specific field experience requirements associated with your program.
  • Check with your course instructors for details about the specific field experience requirements for education courses.

Once you have done these things, follow the steps below to arrange, perform, and report on your field experiences.

Field Experience Procedures

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Request an Early Field Placement

After submitting the Preliminary Early Field Placement Request Form (green sheet) to your course instructor, assignments will be made through the field placement coordinator.  Assignments will be posted on the bulletin board outside Education office #138.

Step 2: Print Forms for Collection

While you are in the field, you will need to collect detailed information about each experience. If you have not already received a Field Placement Packet download the forms and print copies to take with you.
