What 10.3 criterion says:

The teacher demonstrates knowledge of the use of technology in business, industry and society.

What this criterion seems to mean:

 Teachers must research and stay current on technology issues that impact business/society.  Teachers must initiate conversation with students on these issues and be knowledgeable on such issues to answer student questions.

 

 

What a teacher does when demonstrating this knowledge or skill:

Teachers who meet this criterion will:
  • Read magazine articles and journals on the effects of technology in the business world.
  • Participate in list serves to discuss technology issues.
  • Take students on field trips to companies that are "high tech".
  • Discuss with students the importance and impact that technology has in the business world and society in general.  ie. emails, networks,

Teacher Standard 10 from the Kentucky Department of Education website provides teachers with a complete list of the criteria which they will be required to meet.  Teachers can also attend workshops offered by organizations that aid in teacher development such as CORD.   Kentucky Education Television offers an online video that addresses the topic "using technology in business".  This video was shown at the Executive Leadership Forum this year.  

Many technology resource teachers have created web pages that offer helpful hints to incorporate all of the Standard 10 criteria into your classroom.
