To Improve your skills on this criterion, consider the following sites and online resources: |
There are several different multimedia sites that provide information that may be helpful to educators. www.algonquinc.on.ca/edtech/mmclass.html is titled Multimedia in the Classroom. It is helpful in deciding how to present your presentation. This site gives advantages and disadvantages of using methods such as TV monitors or a screen to project a presentation. It also discusses which method is best depending on your purpose, audience size, and room setup. With so much software available that has a wealth of graphics, information and such, it's hard to know what to use in a presentation. Multimedia Design at www.algonquinc.on.ca/edtech/mmdesign.html is a place to visit for help. It gives guidelines of what to use from multimedia software to design a multimedia presentation so that the topic you're presenting doesn't get lost in the process. It also has a few links to show you examples of some of the features offered. To find directions and tutorials for using various technology look at www.learningspace.org/tech/how_to/howto.html This site has links to introduce the Internet and Netscape, saving graphics from the web, making audio clips, e-mail, bookmarks, front page and a few others. It seems to go from very basic skills to more advanced. This would be a great place to visit for someone who needs extra support with basic applications. www.learningspace.org/tech/tech_skills/tech_skills.html is titled Technology Skills Lessons. This site has a variety of lessons designed to help teach students or adults how to use certain programs or develop specific technology skills. One of the lessons is the steps for making files downloadable from the Internet. It can be found directly at www.learningspace.org/tech/tech_skills/downlfiles.html This would go along with the criterion of being able to download software. For basic troubleshooting for hardware for Macintosh you can visit www.learningspace.org/tech/tech_assist/mac/mac_assistance.html You can also find downloads for Hewlett Packard peripherals. You can also look at www.learningspace.org/ which is the main homepage for the above links. You may find helpful links that aren't mentioned above. A place to go to find reviews of educational software is the homepage of www.superkids.com which also has a variety of links. |
