Welcome
to the Georgetown College Department of Education
website. We offer a number of innovative teacher
education programs that are designed to fulfill our
mission, which is to develop scholars who are
competent and caring educators, committed to a
spirit of service and learning.
We recognize
that student achievement is dependent upon high
quality teaching, and thus our primary goal is to
prepare educators who have the knowledge and
dedication to assure that all students succeed. This
goal is reflected in the Teacher Education Program
vision statement:
|
"Our vision is to
develop and nurture master teachers.
These teachers will serve as innovative
scholars and educational leaders who are
driven by a conviction that educators
play a vital role both in the lives of
their students and in society. Thus,
they will model standards of excellence
and motivate their students to meet
those standards through mutual inquiry
and reflection. They will recognize
students’ multiple strengths, create a
caring community that honors students’
diversity, and inspire students to
become critical thinkers and life-long
learners." |
