The Concert

The first half of the concert is dedicated to the blues. The blockbuster concert will open with David Baker’s “Shades of Blue”, followed by Muddy Waters long-time guitarist John Primer’s debut with the orchestra with three pieces arranged by composer Larry Hoffman. Piano virtuoso Lean Bates will perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” to wrap up the first half.
The second half of the concert will be co-produced with the Adler Planetarium and will feature the music of Mussogorsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” performed to dazzling images from the universe. Digital artist and astronomer, Dr. Jose Francisco Salgado, will create a never-before-seen video that will synch up with Mussogorsky’s breathtaking music to create a one-of-a-kind symphonic experience for the eyes and ears.
