Relig Life conference

Christ’s commission to make disciples of all the world, announcing the Good News of our resurrected Lord and the coming Kingdom of God through teaching, ministry, and baptism, is the foundation of our work as the church. The church’s practices, shaped by the Bible, tradition and culture, express their obedience to this command by creating and refining ways of growing congregations and expanding ministries. As the American church faces a “post-Christian” context, it needs to share and celebrate its successes in order to develop creative and effective ways of being salt and light in the world. Lay people, church leaders, academics, and all people involved in Christian ministry are important contributors to a conversation about the best practices of growing the church and its ministries. We invite 300-word proposals for papers or presentations (20 minutes) or panels (75 minutes) from scholars, practitioners, and lay people of any tradition or denomination. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • Assessing community needs to focus ministry
  • Spiritually preparing individuals and communities for ministry
  • Preaching and proclaiming the Gospel effectively
  • Using social media and technology in church and ministry growth
  • Engaging education ministry in the church and community
  • Scholarly resources for evaluating and refining church practices

Deadline is September 15, 2014
