New Student Orientation takes place the weekend before classes begin for the Fall Semester. Orientation is designed to help welcome new students to campus and help them feel at home on campus, begin new relationships with fellow students, and engage with their new community.

New Student Orientation Rough Schedule

THURSDAY before school begins:
Morning – It’s Move In Time!  You will finally be able to move into your new home-away-from-home at Georgetown College! We provide student, staff, and faculty volunteers to help you move in any time in the morning!  Let us do the heavy lifting so you can get settled in. (Note: Some athletic teams will move in early due to practice schedules.  If you are a student athlete, check with your coach for your move-in date.
Afternoon – Next up, you will meet your Orientation Leader, a student volunteer who is there to show you the ropes at GC and guide you through all the orientation activities throughout the weekend!  You will also meet with your Academic Advisor and get to know him or her and have your first advising session at GC. The day will end with a GC tradition called TIGER Time, which brings the whole incoming class together for some serious fun!

FRIDAY before school begins:
Morning – Get ready to work!  You’ll start the day doing a service learning project around the city of Georgetown.  We want you to feel connected to your local community and get the local community invested in you too!  There’s so much for us to learn about each other and orientation is the perfect time to do that!
Afternoon – Now that you’ve learned about your community, it’s time to learn more about what we can offer you on campus!  You’ll hear from several different offices on campus who will tell you what they can do to help you achieve your goals during your time at GC!
Evening – But the best part of the day happens in the evening!  Every year, the Georgetown Activities Council (GAC) hosts a big event for all incoming students.  The event can be different every year – in the past, we’ve hosted big game nights or bonfires.  What exciting event will this year bring?

SATURDAY before school begins:
Morning – Whew!  You get to sleep in a little bit this morning.  But don’t worry, we still have a full day ahead of you!  You’ll start the day off with a session by your Dean of Students and then an amazing brunch in the Caf.
Afternoon – This afternoon gives you the chance to hang out with some of your new friends, get to know campus more, ask your Orientation Leader some questions, and get ready for the evening’s activities.
Evening – You’ve met almost all the offices on campus, but now it’s time to dress to impress and meet with your new College President and the Executive Cabinet.  After an investiture ceremony welcoming you as the newest Georgetown College Tigers, you’ll take your class picture and head over to the President’s House for a dinner and a reception.  The night concludes with another GAC event – a Hypnotist!

SUNDAY before school begins:
Morning – Join us in the Chapel for your first All Campus Worship event and then have lunch with your orientation group, who are no longer strangers but friends!  After brunch, get yourself some ice cream at the Graces Center Social and you’re finally ready!  You’ve officially been oriented and are ready to start classes tomorrow!  We know you’ll do well and we will be there with you every step of the way to help support you as your achieve your goals!

Welcome to Georgetown College!
