Transit of Venus, 2004
Limestone, red sandstone, steel and gravel; 2 x 14 x 14 feet
Site: 5, Giddings Hall

This work was created in response to the rare astrological phenomenon called the “Transit of Venus.” During this event, which occurs in an alternating pattern of 120 years, 8 years, the planet Venus passes in front of the Sun as seen from Earth. The last passage was in 2004 and the next will be in 2012.
