Our Story

CSCoran first noticed Rebecca as the girl who always walked in late to Dr. Hadaway’s Honors Ethics class.  As one of Coran’s pet peeves is being late, you might not think these two would end up together.  However, overlapping friend groups led to Coran and Rebecca spending time together their freshman year.  At the end of that year, Rebecca’s friends held a surprise birthday party for her.  Coran stopped by and gave her a present, a necklace from a jewelry machine at Camino Grande, thus beginning a tradition of giving each other gifts from similar machines.  Over the summer, Coran, working at a homeless shelter in Louisville, and Rebecca, working at a church camp in Ravenna, exchanged letters.  At the beginning of their sophomore year, the two decided they were “official” while swinging at the Garth Elementary playground.

While at Georgetown, Coran and Rebecca went on a number of adventures including a Spring Break Mission Trip with Campus Ministry to Arizona and their biggest adventure, a semester at Oxford. Both are immensely grateful for the influence and guidance of the faculty and staff at GC who helped them achieve their dreams.

After graduating, Coran went off to graduate school at Fordham University in New York City to work on his PhD in philosophy.  Rebecca began a job at Children’s Montessori School in Georgetown and obtained a certification for teaching three- to six-year-olds from the American Montessori Society.  For two years they had a long-distance relationship.  On April 4th, 2012, while visiting Rebecca on Easter Break, Coran proposed to her as soon as he landed at the Lexington Bluegrass Airport.

Coran and Rebecca were married in the Ensor Library at Georgetown College on June 1, 2013.  They now live in Bronx, NY as Coran continues at Fordham University and Rebecca works as a Montessori teacher in White Plains, NY while pursuing another teaching certification for the birth to three-years-old age group.

They are thankful for all of the opportunities provided by Georgetown College and most of all that it was the place where they met each other.
