Our love story began at Georgetown College during my junior and Aaron’s senior year. Aaron was Pike president and I was Sigma Kappa VP of Scholarship, so we were in charge of planning a joint Pike/Sigma faculty appreciation lunch. We met several times to plan the event and quickly became friends. Over the next few months, we both discussed the possibility of a relationship with my roommate and Aaron’s tennis teammate, Kate. We studied together in the Pike and Sigma lobbies, attended the Georgetown/UK basketball game, visited Aaron’s family in Harlan, had dinner with my family in Versailles, and eventually had an official first date.
We have so many special memories from our time at Georgetown. I’m thankful we became best friends first and allowed our relationship to develop from that foundation. We dated for several years after graduating while Aaron got his masters in Sports Administration and started his first job, and I went to UK to get my PhD in School Psychology. We were married on July 3, 2010 and over half our wedding party was close friends we met at Georgetown. We now live in Knoxville, TN and both have jobs we love. Our college journey led to many blessings in our lives and we will always be thankful for the time we shared together at Georgetown College.
