Interdisciplinary Major

(B.S. degree) A total of fifty-seven to fifty-nine semester hours required. All students must take the Environmental Science Core (twenty-seven hours), consisting of BIO 111(Q), 314(Q), either 212 or 214, MAT 111(Q), ECO 223(Q), ENV/BIO 330, ENV 332, 450, and 461. In addition, students select either the Science Track (thirty to thirty-one additional hours), or the Policy Track (thirty-one to thirty-two additional hours).

 

Science Track: All students in the Science Track are required to take CHE 111(Q), 112(Q), 113(Q), and either GEL 113 or PHY 109. In addition, students take a minimum of sixteen additional hours selected among BIO 300, 311, 316, 320, 335(Q), 413, CHE 201, 202, 309, 310, 305, 315, 337, 339 and three additional hours selected among the upper-level courses in the Policy Track outside of the Natural Sciences. An additional 30 – 31 hours beyond the core.

 

Policy Track: All Students in the Policy Track are required to take either CHE 111(Q) or GEL 113, as well as two of the following:  ECO 337, PHI 345, and/or SOC 355.   Students also take a minimum of eighteen additional hours (with no more than nine from any one discipline) selected among BUA 210(Q), 211, ECO 221(Q), PHI 335, POS 305, 309, 315, 335, 409, 430, SOC 405, 415, and whichever course was not selected in the previous block (ECO 337, PHI 345, SOC 355).  Finally, three to four hours must be selected among BIO 300, 311, 316, 320, 335(Q), 413. An additional 31 – 32 hours beyond the core.
