Note:

  • Should take CHE 111/112/113 (General Chemistry I) not CHEM 100, 102 or 171 during freshman year.

If MATH ACT is below 22, it is suggested that the student take MAT107 (college Algebra) and start CHE111 sophomore year.

  • Students planning health-related careers such as dentistry, pharmacy, medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, physical therapy, etc. should take CHE 111 and NOT CHE 100, CHE 102, or CHE 171.

Major

(B.S. degree) A total of fifty-one semester hours required. Forty-one hours of chemistry which must include CHE 111, 112, 113, 201, 202, 309, 310, 331, 341, 450, 451 plus two chosen from CHE 319, 325, 329, 333, 339, 342, and 421 plus three chosen from CHE 305, 315, 332 or 400 plus enough semester hours of electives to reach a total of 41. The required allied courses are MAT 125 and 225 plus Physics 211. PHY 301 may be used as an elective. CHE 100, 102, 171, and 271 may not count toward chemistry major.

Minor

A total of twenty semester hours which must include CHE 111, 112, 113, 201, 202, 309, 310 plus four credit hours in any other chemistry course (except CHE 100 , 102, 171  or 271) one of which must be a lab course.
