What's Important
By now, you’ve no doubt realized that the college search can be a challenging experience! Choosing where you will spend the next four years of your life is a large decision, and you want to be sure that you focus on non-negotiable factors instead of personal preferences when making your final selection.
Personal preferences may vary: some people want schools with a cool mascot (what’s cooler than a Bengal tiger?), schools with a certain extracurricular activity of interest (with over 100 organizations, we’re sure you’ll find something that fits the ticket), or even schools with flattering school colors (you can’t go wrong with basic black!).
But what are students’ non-negotiables? Year after year, students just like you have told us that the top three things on their minds when looking for that perfect fit are:
- Majors
- Size and type
- Financial aid and cost
Majors
Clearly, majors are important: the main purpose of college is to get an education, after all!
Georgetown offers all of the majors that you can expect from its competitors and more: over 70 majors, minors, and academic programs in total!
Along with strong traditional programs, in subjects such as English, biology, history, and mathematics, we offer interdisciplinary majors and minors, highlighting topics such as security studies, public health, musical theatre, and youth ministries.
The combination of high-quality classroom instruction that you’ll receive at Georgetown, blended with a strong internship and experiences tailored to fit your interests, will ensure that you receive even better preparation for your future career than you’d find in a formal program elsewhere.

Size and Type
Every student worries, Will I fit in? Fortunately, Georgetown College is the kind of campus that tends to alleviate those natural fears within days.
Our four-day New Student Orientation provides an opportunity for incoming students to get to know their classmates in a fun and welcoming environment. The orientation sessions primarily take place in small groups led by professors and upperclassmen, people who are invested in your success and want to ensure that your “Georgetown experience” is positive.
We take our Christian heritage seriously and believe in treating others the way you’d like to be treated. This leads to a campus chock-full of smiling faces, kind words, and welcoming actions. At this small, private college, you’re going to have to make an effort to get lost in the crowd.
Financial Aid and Cost
If you’re like most students, you’re probably not independently wealthy and are starting to worry that your bank account is too small to finance four years of a quality education. Put your fears to rest: the initial sticker shock of college costs quickly pales when you realize that 95% of our students receive financial aid. In fact, Georgetown gives $22 million in scholarships and aid each year! Between scholarships, grants, and loans, you can spend less time worrying about paying for college and more time enjoying your college years at Georgetown!
