Academic Scholarships

A student is eligible for only one of the following Academic Scholarships and will be awarded the most advantageous of the scholarships based on qualifications.

Governor’s Scholar & Governor’s School for the Arts Scholarship

  • Amount: $12,000
  • Eligibility: Apply for admission by February 1, with appropriate ACT/GPA may qualify for Trustee instead

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

  • Amount: $5,000
  • Eligibility: For PKT Community College Grads, Apply by February 1

Presidential Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000 and up
  • Eligibility: Apply for admission by February 1

Trustee Scholarship

  • Amount: From $5,000 up to full tuition, room and board
  • Eligibility: Apply for admission by February 1

Valedictorian Scholarship

  • Amount: $12,000
  • Eligibility: Apply for admission by February 1; may qualify for Trustee instead

Parks Scholarship

  • Amount: Full tuition
  • Eligibility: To qualify, a student must have a minimum 3.75 high school GPA and have scored 30 or higher on the ACT exam, submit a Parks Baptist Scholarship application as well as Georgetown’s application for admission, write an essay, and, possibly, come to campus for an in-person interview. Apply by February 1.

Athletic Scholarships

Christian Leadership Scholarship

  • Amount: 10 scholarships valued at $2,500 and 80 scholarships at $1,000 per year.
  • Eligibility: Apply for admission by February 1

Church Matching

  • Amount: The college will match the church portion w/$100 for 8 semesters
  • Eligibility: Church must contribute $100 per semester per student

Creative Writing Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000 per year for new students
  • Eligibility: For students interested in Creative Writing at Georgetown College
  • More Information: Contact Dr. Steven Carter; application deadline is February 15

Elijah Craig Grant

  • Amount varies
  • Eligibility: Awarded automatically, based on academics

Equine Scholarship

Federal Pell Grant

  • Amount: $400 to $5,500
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA; determined by Expected Family Contribution

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

  • Amount: $200 to $800
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA; must demonstrate need

Global Scholarship

Inmersión en Español-Spanish Immersion Program

  • Amount: The Inmersión en Español Scholarship is $1000 per year and will be awarded based on admittance into the program. Students will need to indicate their interest in Inmersión en Español and the level of Spanish course work they will have completed by their high school graduation on the Application for Admissions. After the application has been received a possible interview and proficiency test will be conducted.

Institutional Grants and Endowed Scholarships

  • Amount varies
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA; based on eligibility

Kentucky College Access Program (CAP) Grant

  • Amount: $1,900 award
  • Eligibility: Kentucky resident and attend a Kentucky college or university; it is recommended that you file the FAFSA by February 5th; eligibility determined by the state; given until state funds exhausted.

Kentucky Tuition Grant

  • Amount: Up to $2,964
  • Eligibility: Must be Kentucky resident and attend a private Kentucky college; it is recommended that you file the FAFSA by February 5th; eligibility determined by the state; granted until state funds exhausted.

Oxford Honors Scholarship

  • Amount: The Oxford Honors Scholarship is $1000 per year and will be awarded after the application has been received and a possible interview with faculty involved with the Honors Program. Students need to apply by February 1 of the senior year.

Performance Scholarships (Music, Art and Theatre)

Scott County Grant

  • Amount: $1,000 – $2,000
  • Eligibility: Grad from Scott Co. HS (KY), award is $1000 if living off campus

Veterans Benefits: Post 9/11 and Yellow Ribbon Program

  • Through a combination of college and federal resources, it is possible for a student’s tuition costs to be covered for eligible recipients. Please consult with Financial Planning on the amount of your benefit. Read more about the program.

Virginia Covington Grant

  • Amount varies
  • Eligibility: Awarded automatically, based on financial need

 

Work Study

Federal Work Study

  • Amount: Up to $1,000
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA; based on eligibility

Institutional Work Program

  • Amount: No limits
  • Eligibility: No requirements

 

Federal Loans Available

Federal Perkins Loan (5% interest rate)

  • Amount: up to $4,000
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA; based on eligibility and need

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan (3.4% interest rate)

  • Amount: Up to $3,500 for freshman, $4,500 for sophomore, $5,500 as a junior and senior
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan (6.8% interest rate)

  • Amount: Up to $3,500 as a freshman, $4,500 as a sophomore and $5,500 as a junior and senior; must decide whether to defer interest payments
  • Eligibility: File FAFSA

Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (7.9% interest rate)

  • Amount: Cost of education minus the amount of financial assistance the student is receiving
