About Theatre and Film

As a Theatre and Film major at Georgetown, you can hone your craft in our dedicated black box theatre, or create an original student film. Our Maskrafters Academy allows accepted students to use film equipment for individual projects, participate in every stage show, attend workshops at the Humana Festival each spring, and intern in a related field. All Academy students will also receive $500 during their senior year to allow them to direct a play or film a movie for their senior project.  With our focus on developing new work for stage and screen, we give students the chance to explore their own ideas and the tools to become content creators.

I came to college a year early, eager to get on with the rest of my life.  I was from a small town and had only lived in that one place before journeying five hours away to live for the next four years.  What I found at Georgetown College was a new community, one that would be woven into the fabric of my chosen family now for 32 years.  I found acceptance, a chance to start to grow into my best self, a freedom to foster my own values and beliefs.  It wasn't one specific quality that created this experience.  It was the combination of professors, size, climate, students, staff, the curricula, the setting.  Most importantly, it was the ideal intangible combination for me to thrive, for which I am forever grateful.
