Our 2nd ‘College for a Day’ Has More Exciting Classes

History professor James Klotter shows a reprint of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin’s front page after the bombing of Pearl Harbor to his “College for a Day” class in October. His students from left: Ann Colbert Wade ’65, Mary Pollock and Ruth Snyder ’52. Klotter, who is also the state historian, will also have a class March 6.

Our inaugural “College for a Day” event this past fall was so successful, we have a Spring version this Friday (March 6) – with more classes so participants have more exciting options. (See the class times below.)

If you haven’t been contacted already, it’s not too late sign-up. In fact, we are extending the deadline to Wednesday (March 4) at 5 p.m.

Sonny Burnette, Chairman of our Music department, will teach “The History of Rock and Roll” – an especially timely pick. Consider making a weekend of it with the next evening’s concert featuring the Sixties music of The Monarchs. You might want to attend the pre-concert Pawling Heritage Society dinner, which will include musical entertainment from our new Lyric Theatre Society. Read more here
about the special dinner-and-concert package.

Theatre professor Ed Smith ’88, who directed the College’s first full length movie – “Surviving Guthrie” – posed with his class at the first “College for a Day.” From left, Mary Pollock, Emajo Carlton, Ruth Snyder ’52 and Anne Greer ’56.

College for a Day begins at 9 a.m. with registration in the Ensor Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Welcome by President Bill Crouch and Provost Rosemary Allen. Your first class is at 10 a.m., followed by lunch in the Hall of Fame Room, two more classes at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and a closing reception at 4 p.m. with Dr. Crouch and Dr. Allen.

The cost for this One Day Workshop for Life-Long Learners is $50. Think of it as sharing a day of intellectual and social stimulation with six of the College’s very best teachers with compelling topics and some like-minded people. If this appeals to you, call (502) 863-8041 or toll free 877-640-0107 before the close-of-business Wednesday.
