Summary
This public service position is responsible for implementation, development, coordination, and supervision of circulation services at the Library.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Hire, schedule, train, and evaluate a large staff of student workers for daytime and weekend hours
- Provide assistance at the circulation desk and act as initial contact for public services information as needed
- Prepare new books for shelving; verify cataloging records; notify selectors
- Troubleshoot, operate and report maintenance needs of Library equipment, e.g. printers, copiers, and computers
- Use and demonstrate circulation module and Library web page
- Process all faculty Reserves
- Keep current with academic library copyright policies pertaining to Reserves
- Participate in procedural and policy reviews
- Coordinate room booking for Library areas of the Ensor LRC
- Maintain records and report statistics
- Report facility problems to appropriate departments
- Be responsible for opening of the building and maintaining patron count
- Supervise daytime Library circulation cash handling policies and procedures
- Participate in budgeting of the Library student worker’s salaries and allotments of working hours
- Be responsible for the Library Circulation Moodle page
- Approve Circulation students’ reported working hours for payroll on a monthly basis
- Shelve local morning newspapers
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 25-30 students in the LRC. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Education and / or Experience – Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Library and/or supervisory experience preferred.
- Communication / Language – Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and public service skills, and intermediate computer literacy. Must be able to learn new computer applications. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Competence in speaking effectively before groups.
- Mathematical – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Skill in making change involving all denominations of American currency.
- Reasoning – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
