Dathan A. Powell, Assistant Professor of Theatre/Technical Director
B.F.A, Theatre Arts, Illinois Wesleyan University; M.F.A., Scenic Design, Indiana University
Professor Powell has worked as actor, director, scenic designer, technical director, lighting designer, scenic artist, and technician in a variety of venues throughout his career. Professionally, he has designed sets for the Brown County Playhouse (IN), the Seagle Music Colony (NY), Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa, IL, and the Bloomington Playwrights Project (IN). Other professional credits include scenic artist for Brown County Playhouse and the Seagle Music Colony, assistant scenic designer and set painter for the Young Abe Lincoln Amphitheatre (IN) and assistant to the Illinois Wesleyan School of Theatre Arts' resident scenic designer. Prior to finishing his Master's degree, he spent several years working for Walt Disney World Entertainment in Florida as a lighting and props technician.
