Master of Arts in Special
Education LBD P-12
The LBD Application packet can be found in the
Documents & Forms
section of this website in a folder called "LBD
Program".
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
If you are a teacher or have a teaching
certificate, the following are required:
- Two official undergraduate and/or any
graduate transcripts from the college granting
the degree
- Application
- Two recommendations: one from a building
principal or from a former professor or other
educator using the Program Entry Form.
- 2.75 GPA [if less than 2.75, the GRE must be
taken]
- Copy of your teaching certificate
- Signed copy of the Ky. School Personnel Code
of Ethics
If you are not currently employed as a
teacher, the following are required:
- Two official undergraduate and/or any
graduate transcripts from the college granting
the degree
- Application form for the LBD program
- 2.75 GPA [if less than 2.75, then GRE must be
taken]
- Two recommendation from a former professor
or other educator
- Signed copy of the Ky. School Personnel Code
of Ethics
REQUIRED COURSEWORK:
A curriculum contract outlines the coursework
required and the projected sequence of enrollment.
You may access this curriculum contract via the
above website. Any deviation of this curriculum must
be approved in writing by Dr. Proffitt. This
contract must be signed on-site during an advising
session.
TUITION AND FEE COSTS (2007/2008 Academic Year):
The following charges are applicable to this
program:
- Regular graduate school tuition of $310 per
graduate hour
- On-line course additional fee per course of
$150
- Field Component additional fee of $150 [work
with a mentor teacher]
- There will be required textbooks for each
class, as appropriate.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Traineeships are available for eligible graduate
students who are teaching full time in special
education on a temporary certificate. To apply,

Our financial assistance office is available to
work with you regarding financial assistance. Their
number is 502-863-8027—Ms. Sandra Brown usually is
the one who assists you. You must contact the
Georgetown College Financial Planning Office
(502-863-8027) to let us know that you are
interested in getting a loan. This must be done each
semester you wish to receive a loan.
The Student Loan Program is available to students
enrolled in this program. You would need to contact
Leigh Webster at 1-888-678-4625, or
kwebster@kheslc.com or visit the web site
www.studentloanpeople.com. There is a process
involved in the application which currently takes
approximately 6-8 weeks.
