Program Communications

The LBD Program is committed to regular communications with all candidates, both through general announcements and information and through individual communications.

Electronic Announcements.

  • Emails. As an online program, general announcements are sent through email to all candidates. Upon admission, candidates receive a Georgetown email account which the candidate may forward to another personal account through the PAWS system. Candidates are responsible for providing current email address information to the LBD Program.
  • Website. The LBD Program maintains a website which includes announcements and other information. Candidates should check the LBD website regularly.

Face-to-Face Town Meetings. An LBD informational general session is held prior to the beginning of each online semester as part of the Town Meeting initial sessions with each instructor.

  • Town Meeting dates are set prior to the beginning of each academic year and are listed in the Graduate Academic Calendar.
  • Attendance at Town Meetings is mandatory for all online graduate students, including LBD candidates. Candidates are expected to arrange schedules in order to attend.
    • If there are extenuating circumstances outside the candidate’s control (e.g., death in family), the candidate may request an excused absence from a Town Meeting.
      • All requests should be made in writing (email or letter) to the LBD Program Director.
      • The LBD Director forwards the request with a recommendation to the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies.
      • The candidate will be notified of whether the request has been approved.
