Graduate School Expectations for OnLine Students

  1. Students must “log in” and “log out” of all chat sessions.

  2. Participation is expected in all On-line chats and discussions. Participation/attendance is required. Failure to participate may result in lowered grade. Chats are from 8:00 -9:00 pm on designated days.

  3. Discussion postings will be graded and calculated into the final grade.

  4. Students must focus during chats/discussion on the topics for the particular chat/discussion.

  5. Personnel discussions during chat are not permitted. Students should contact each other before/after chat for such conversations.

  6. All students have a right to express their own opinions in discussions and every other student must respect this right.

  7. Students should not dominate chats/discussions.

  8. APA style on all papers submitted.

  9. Assignments turned in on time/date required. All assignment due dates refer to midnight EST on the listed due date. Late assignments may result in lowered grade per assignment or may be given a “0”.

  10. Communication to the Professor of any absences, delays, etc., is expected. Notice must be given PRIOR to the absence or delay.

  11. Courses to be completed in timely fashion. Incompletes in courses will be determined by the individual professor based on “life threatening or unusual circumstance”.

  13. Students must visit the course site daily. Postings and announcements will occur at different times and it is the responsibility of the student to check the course site and respond accordingly.

  14. Students must read email daily. Professors will keep in contact by email. Your email address must be current. If it changes, notify the professor and also change it in your profile online.

  15. Students will contact professors during the professors published office hours.

  16. Students must indicate the purpose of emails by using the subject line when sending emails to professors. Professors will do likewise.

  17. Students can expect professors to answer e-mails received on a given day no later than the close of work on the next workday, unless the professor has provided different directions to students.

  18. Students are expected to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and/or Excel for assignments. If you do not have access to these formats, students may purchase Word XP Professional from the College Bookstore.

  19. If students experience technical problems and you cannot submit assignments or participate in chat/discussion, the student must notify the professor immediately and explain the difficulty.
