Financial Aid
Financial support is available, both
through Georgetown College as well as other sources.
The
Georgetown College financial assistance office
is available to work with candidates regarding
financial assistance. Contact must be made each
semester.
The following are sources
specifically for special education.
Special Education Traineeships.
Kentucky exceptional children “traineeships” for
tuition reimbursement are available for eligible
graduate students who are teaching full time in
special education on a temporary certificate in
Kentucky. To apply, go to the
Traineeship website or email
Traineeship@nku.edu. The Georgetown LBD Program
must complete part of the application to verify
enrollment in the program. Candidates should send
the application to their advisors, who will work
with the
LBD Program Director to process the application.
Application deadlines for summer, fall and spring
are: April 1, July 1, and November 1.
Best in Class. The Kentucky
Student Loan Program is available to candidates
enrolled in the LBD Program, as a teacher shortage

Student Loan People web site.
Federal TEACH Grant: Students are eligible for
the program beginning in Fall 2008. This $4,000
annual grant ($8,000 aggregate maximum for graduate
students) requires that a student complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a
service agreement with the U.S. Department of
Education. The grant converts to a loan if the
students does not meet all service obligations,
including teaching in a high-need subject are and
teaching in a school designated as having a high
proportion of economically disadvantaged stuents.
