~ LBD Exit Portfolio ~

LBD Program Exit Portfolio

A candidate’s exit portfolio should consist of items developed during Georgetown coursework as a demonstration of the candidate’s proficiency in meeting teaching standards. It is organized by the Georgetown Conceptual Framework and Kentucky New Teacher Standards, but also addresses the Council for Exceptional Children standards. Information on portfolio preparation is provided during the Exit Interview.

Portfolio Contents

Candidates for August 2008 completion should obtain the portfolio contents requirements at the LBD exit interview scheduled for January 5, 2008 during the Town Meeting day.

Portfolio contents are being revised for 2008-2009 and will be posted here when approved.

Portfolio Format

The portfolio may be presented in either notebook or electronic format. If in electronic format (e.g., on a jump drive), all files should be organized in sequential order and have clear file names. Whether paper or electronic, all documents should be in APA format (e.g., double-spaced, one-inch margins, font size 10-12, right header at the top of each page identifying the item and page number). References to existing works should be provided to avoid plagiarism and should follow APA guidelines for the type of item referenced.

Portfolio Grading Process

The portfolio must be submitted to the LBD Program Director by the deadline in December (for December graduates) or May (for August graduates). Each portfolio is assigned to at least one faculty reviewer and may have a second reviewer. The reviewers have a deadline for reviewing and scoring the portfolio. The Associate Dean of Graduate Studies sends a notice letter to the candidate of portfolio pass or fail. If the portfolio does not pass, the candidate is notified to revise and resubmit the portfolio items of concern to the LBD Program Director within a timeframe for graduation. The candidate is responsible for contacting his or her advisor to arrange a meeting to review needed revisions. Upon resubmission to the LBD Program Director, the portfolio items/sections which require revision are rescored by a new scorer.

After the candidate receives a notification letter of a passing score, the candidate is responsible for making arrangements to pick up the portfolio. Portfolios are not mailed or returned to candidates.
