Financial Aid Information
There are four types of financial assistance for
which students may qualify. For questions about any
of these programs or if you need help applying,
contact Student Financial Planning at
financialaid@georgetowncollege.edu or call
502-863-8027: 1. Federal Stafford Loan:
This program allows students to borrow funds for
higher education. File the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify. All borrowed
funds must be repaid. Students must be enrolled at
least half-time to qualify. 2. Traineeship
Funds: This program allocates grant funds to
assist certified regular education teachers in
obtaining certification in an area of special
education. The program is also designed to assist
special education teachers in obtaining special
education certification in an area not previously
completed. For more information and for application
forms, go to
http://traineeship.nku.edu
3. KHEAA/Kentucky Teacher Scholarship:
This is a need-based program that requires that you
file a FAFSA, demonstrate financial need, apply for
the scholarship on-line at
www.kheaa.com by
May 1 each year, and enroll full-time for a given
semester. 4. Federal TEACH Grant: Students
are eligible for this program beginning Fall 2008.
This $4000 annual grant ($8000 aggregate maximum for
graduate students) requires that a student complete
the FAFSA and a service agreement with the U.S.
Department of Education. The grant converts to a
loan if the student does not meet all service
obligations, including teaching in a high-need
subject area and teaching in a school designated as
having a high proportion of economically
disadvantaged students. For details, go to
http://studentaid.ed.gov or contact Financial
Planning. If you plan to apply for any of these
programs, please e-mail your plans to
