If this essay were your only evidence, how might you describe the work of an anthropologist? What do anthropologists do and how do they do it? Write an essay in which you look at "Deep Play" section by section, including the references, describing on the basis of each what it is that an anthropologist must be able to do.  In each case, you have have the chance to watch Geertz at work.  (Your essay, then, might well have sections that correspond to Geertz's.) When you have worked through them all, write a final section that discusses how these various skills or arts fit together to define the expertise of someone like Gertz.
